Original mech paint. Persoanlly I like the rough one better before I refined it.

I ran out of names.. so I decided to use the abbreviation of my undergrad aerospace class

90% there

Near the finishing stage of my 2 mech characters.

I'm pretty happy with my improvements so far. I've never done mech paintings like these before so I don't have a baseline to compare to, but now I do!

I named the characters because I've been working on them for the past month, I became quite attached to them.

I really like Odysseus, I think I will do more paintings and design improvements on him in the future.

Refinement

Refinement of the 2 selected thumbs. The one on the left has a little more organic feel, I named him SYCK... the name was from a text that I sent to my friend where I misspelled 'sick". The teacher wants the mech to be a little more bulky, I personally like the thinner legs considering how slender the mech looks. However I want to improve my design so I listened to the pro.  No questions asked!

I really like the bulk guy design and so does the teacher. I'm going to redo the drawing because I feel like a front view is boring, I also used symmetry so I feel like I cheated.
I will be working on the colored version this weekend. I'm definitely going to make 3D versions of those once the class is done because I'd love to see them in 3D!

Kachalot

Next WAYLE design is Kachalot. Based on Chachalot - aka Sperm Whale.

Sperm whale's head shape was the main inspiration for Kachalot's design. Second picture is the line sketch, the egg shaped helmet type design is pretty common so I tried to make it different. Sperm whale's head is actually rectangular like from the front view so I made it some what edgy.

As for the color choice, I really like Orka's black/white/blue scheme, but I didn't want to use it again and get them confused. One day at work I saw a black/gray/orange tapeholder and I really liked it, so I decided to go with that scheme. The helmet portion was originally white, but I really like dark color so I made it black grayish.

This picture also has a little more hardware details than Orka. Orka only had the head portion made, the rest was paintbashed using the helmet. For this one, the head, neck and chest plate were made, so some of the parts were photobashed and paint bashed. It was a first for me so it took awhile, but I like the result and I will do more so I can become proficient with it.
